Key elements of effective planning

How well do you plan in your business? How well do your plans link to your business goals?

Although the exact structure of business plans vary, here are some key elements to think about:

  • What is your vision? .... what's your story and where are you going?;

  • What does your company do? ... can you clarify your products or services;

  • What's your USP? (Unique Sales Points) .... how are your products or services different;

  • What does your market look like? outline the market, competitors, and what type of market share do you have (and do you want);

  • Who are your customers? AND what do they want from their suppliers? How can you retain, grow and attract customers?;

  • How is your company going? your company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats;

  • Revenue projections; what is your revenue now and where will it be in the future?

  • How do you market or sell? the marketing of the products or services;

  • How do you need to resource your business? What people do you need, doing what tasks?;

  • How do you keep your people focused and on task to achieve the business goals?

Once you work through these questions you can then structure an activity plan as well as a P&L. We specialise in creating business plans for small and medium businesses, so if you want to work with us give us a call today!
